How to Display Kid Art

Back in September my son brought home a back-to-school supply list that stated the following:

- large backpack (we do BIG art)

Yes. Yes they do. Big art indeed. Heartwarmingly big. But where to put all of this big art? Tired of taping things to walls and windows (or sneaking in the trash), I needed to come up with an alternative.

Here is what I came up…

How to Display Kid Art in 4 Easy Steps:

1. Go to Jo-Ann Fabrics and buy these open barn wood frames in various sizes. Or order similar ones here:
5×7 Natural Barnwood Open Frame
11×17 Natural Barnwood Open Frame
8×10 Natural Barnwood Open Frame
11×14 Natural Barnwood Open Frame

2. Paint Clothes Pins and hot glue to top of frames.

3. Hang on wall (mix and match with other fun things like mirrors and or letters <—- these are sort of amazing)

4. Clip up kid masterpieces and enjoy!

It really is as simple as that!

I added this circular cutting board mirror that I found on clearance at West Elm to break up all the hard edges and these door knobs from Anthropologie to add some fun splashes of color.

Then when even more BIG artwork comes home, Artkive the old (an app that stores pictures of kid art and can later be printed into a book) and store it where you wish….whether it be in the trash can (bad moms) or scrapbooks (good moms)…. Confession: I am the bad mom version…..and then replace the frames with the new art! I must admit, the Artkive app makes me feel a little less guilty. If you don’t have this app and you have kid-artwork-throwing-away-anxiety then you might want to download this too.

So tell me, how do you display kid art?
